Ryan LaPorte is a American landscape and plein air painter working out of The Pacific Northwest. He studied painting at South Western Illinois College, IL, before earning a Bachelor of Fine Art degree from the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, IL, under the guidance of painter and mixed media artist Jane A. Barrow.

My work explores light and the landscape. How naturally occurring arrangements can lead to a exploration of uncommon compositions.

I try to paint everyday if possible. The process and materials can produce a almost meditative energy. There is always something new to explore or a new skill to refine.

Ryan currently works out of his home studio in Tacoma, WA.

In addition to painting, Ryan enjoys board games, eating, and hanging out with his wife Anne, and daughter Violet.
